About our lumbar cushions

An oblong cushion is wider than it is tall, which makes it one of the most useful shapes in a room. We make every one by hand in our Blackburn studio, in the same designer fabrics as our square cushions, so the two sit happily together.

What size is a lumbar cushion?

Ours measure 12x20 inches. That oblong shape gives gentle support to the small of your back on a sofa or armchair, and it fills the gap in front of the pillows on a bed. Prices run from about £20 for a cover only to about £86, depending on the fabric and whether you add a duck feather inner.

Where should an oblong cushion go on a bed?

Put it in the centre of the bed, in front of your square cushions or pillows. One oblong cushion is usually enough for a double bed, and it gives the arrangement a finished, tailored look. It also pairs well with a bed runner in a matching fabric across the foot of the bed.

Can I mix lumbar and square cushions?

Yes, pairing one lumbar cushion with two square cushions is one of the easiest ways to style a sofa. Choose squares in 18 or 20 inches and keep to one or two fabrics. Every cushion is made to order and despatched within 10 working days, and UK delivery is £3.60.
